Jiddu Krishnamurti Schools - Brockwood Park School

Jiddu Krishnamurti has given a lot of emphasis on being aware of mind thoughts and desires, on right listening and on right education for the children. Many schools were opened under the guidance of Jiddu Krishnamurti. He frequently used to interact with students, answer their queries and write letters to the school for keeping in touch with children.

According to Jiddu Krishnamurti - The function of education is to help us from childhood not to imitate anybody, but to be ourself all the time.

Brockwood Park School was founded by Jiddu Krishnamurti in 1969. Some key points of this school's working are:

  1. Brockwood Park School is situated in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, 60 miles southwest of London. With around 60 students, aged 14 and over, it has the feeling of a large multi-cultural family rather than a boarding school. Brockwood maintains a low student to staff ratio in classes to maintain proper attention and communication between staff and student

  2. Staff members of Brockwood's school are those people who have recognised the importance of right education in a child's life and have also tried to understand Jiddu Krishnamurti's teachings on education. Based upon J Krishnamurti teachings the curriculum of the school has been designed. The curriculum is also based on the conversation with the students to discover and understand their individual and particular needs, talents and interests, and to discover and know what it is they would like to do with their lives.

  3. The School welcomes visits from interested parents and students, or from those who have a particular concern with Krishnamurti's approach to education.

  4. The School gives fully vegetarian food to the students and provides primarily organic food, and wherever possible they use vegetables from their own large, organic kitchen garden.
Jiddu Krishnamurti - Education is not merely the acquisition of technical knowledge, but the understanding with sensitivity and intelligence of the whole problem of living... the whole structure of human existence.
